DNA research of dog breeds
It makes sense that a lot of small dogs share DNA with pugs. Pugs were often bred with larger dogs to produce smaller versions. When they get more breeds into this research, it might be worth getting my dog tested to see what the heck she is.
Ignore the incorrect title to the link
The title should be:
Where did your dog come from? New tree of breeds may hold the answer.

Title and photo are disturbingly disconnected.

Kee Hinckley, yes, I noticed that. I love how some links get either the wrong photo or wrong headline. #ThanksGoogle.

It’s a Science glitch, going on for the last several months. I’ve not noticed it from any other source, therefore I’ve assumed the origin of the problem lies with them, not google.
Are Pugs bred w/larger breeds to confer dwarfism?

It really bugs you that you don’t know what Ana is, doesn’t it? I think there are some doggie DNA sites already, but I’ve not heard indications of accuracy.

Ray of Sunshine, I figure they don’t have enough data yet. Maybe after this study, the commercial services are more believable.

It’d be interesting to send dog DNA to a 23andMe or similar service and see what happened.
From what I understand, they test such a tiny portion that while that strand may yield ‘factual’ results, it never paints a full picture.
I can’t imagine that animal testing services are any better; tho some clinical trials may offer testing as it pertains to their research…
Some of this research is quite humane and non-invasive and meant to help all doggy-kind, but these are few and far between…
