Check out the #BIllMeetScienceTwitter hashtag on Twitter. Unfortunately I don’t know the story behind the hashtag but I like seeing so many scientist on Twitter. It’s also reassuring to see high visibility of female scientists.

The headline for the Forbes article is misleading.

A few scientists on Twitter decided Bill wasn’t letting enough experts talk about science on his new Netflix show.

That’s awesome! Here’s hoping Bill gets the idea and incorporates real, practicing scientists into his show.

Happy to see young female scientists here in America. We need to keep encouraging STEM, and we need to get rid of DeVos so we can keep these young scientists coming. Even a four year break from in STEM in our classrooms puts too many kids at risk for not developing their full potential in these critical, non-god fields!

One of the criticisms, that the media only goes to a few science stars for all science topics regardless of their specialty, is the reason I get mad every time someone quotes Stephen Hawking on Artificial Intelligence. (computer science is STEM, right?)

You are right. I also think we need to give all branches of science and all things STEM a broader face. And making them sexier would draw more interest from young minds. That can be done, it would just take a bit of creative branding. Superheroes are sexy. We have many superheroes in the sciences and technologies, but nobody knows about them. They need more exposure. I think this tweet stream was great in that way.

Bryce Etheridge, I don’t see that changing anytime soon. America has a much different value system. Scientists and engineers are not high on the social status totem pole. Hopefully that will change. However, with people like DeVos, we can only assume education, and therefore science, will continue to be low on the pole.

Which is exactly why we have to get rid of her asap. That will happen when trump goes. The U.S. is killing itself with this educational mindset we’ve had for years. DeVos is exacerbating an already bad system. But 4 years of her can do a lot of damage to kids who could have succeeded without her. We need a complete shakeup in American education and it’s got to be STEM heavy This god crap needs to be eliminated, not implemented. We’re moving backwards.
