Chad Haney Tierkel Died in 1981—done in by cigarettes and two martinis before dinner every night. I worked for and with him in Delaware in the middle seventies.

Chad Haney Actually, I wasn’t doing research. After he retired from CDC, Tierkel became the Director of Communicable Diseases at the Delaware State Health Department. I was on assignment from CDC to run the State Immunization Program, in Tierkel’s Bureau. I liked the man. He was a great guy.
