Paleoartist: Carol Abraczinskas
I though I had shared this already but I couldn’t find it. Allison Sekuler post about drawings before computer 3D renderings (http://goo.gl/qQzsp) reminded me of Carol. She works at the University of Chicago with paleontologist Paul Sereno.
Here’s another article about Carol.

I’ve met Carol a few times. She does very interesting work. I’ve scanned a few samples for Paul Sereno.

Lol Chad Haney – Paul is the black sheep of the family – all of his siblings went into neuroscience (we know some of them): http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-04-24/news/0904230870_1_phds-kids-chicago-area

Thanks for the link Allison Sekuler I should ask Paul if I can post some of the images I acquired for him. They are the strangest, e.g., a bat, python skull, opossum arm, etc.
I was at a seminar given by an associate editor for Science and they were talking about how to get your research published in Science. The speaker ask by show of hands, who has already published in Science. I look around and there are maybe 3-5 people. Then he asked if they had more than 3 or something like that. This guy with torn up jeans is the only one with his hand raised. Towards the end of the talk the same guy asked some question. I don’t remember what but I thought what a show-off. A few years later I actually got a chance to meet him and work with him; it was Paul. I feel bad for being judgmental back at that seminar.

First impressions are often wrong in science 😉

Carol is such a great artist. I would love to have some of her originals on my walls.
